Honors & Awards
2015: Zurich Dissertation Prize, awarded by the Zurich Foundation (Zurich Insurance Group Ltd). The prize rewards dissertations of outstanding scientific quality with a connection to the topic of risk by students in the Department of Management, Technology and Economics at the ETH Zurich.
2010: Scholarship "Leaders of the future".The program, organized by “The European House - Ambrosetti”, an Italian professional consulting group, consists of various workshops on leadership, personal development, culture, art and social sciences. My participation has been sponsored by ENEL, one of the largest Italian utility companies (honor reserved to the 15 best university students of the year in Italy).
2004: Alfiere del Lavoro, awarded by the Order of Merit for Labour, with the President of the Italian Republic. Prestigious honour, reserved to the 25 most outstanding students of the year in all Italian secondary schools (over 2.5 million enrolled students).
Programming languages
Proficient user of R: I wrote almost all my Ph.D. thesis in R and I still use it for some agent-based simulations, network analysis (package iGraph), data visualization, a little bit of machine learning and text mining (self-taught, packages tm, neuralnet, SnowballC and wordcloud).
Proficient user of Microsoft Visual Basic: I use VBA for Excel to automate the production of tables, graphs and reports from raw data sets. In particular, I am currently building in VBA a user-friendly toolkit for sophisticated regression analyses.
Proficient user of Python and C: I used them to program my most complex agent-based simulations requiring extra flexibility (Python) or speed (C).
Proficient user of SQL databases: I used SQL to extract, pre-process and store the entire R&D-network-related data utilized during my PhD thesis and I use SQL virtually every day for my client engagements at EY.
Good knowledge of Java (object-oriented programming to simulate the emergence of order/chaos in multi-agent systems).
I am extremely familiar with MS Office (in particular Word, Excel, Power Point), LaTeX, and in general with the operating systems Windows, Ubuntu (Linux) and Mac OS.
